1. About Safe Paws

Safe Paws is a community platform that helps reunite lost pets, discover pet‑friendly places, and keep pets safe. By using Safe Paws, you agree to these Terms of Use.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to use Safe Paws. If you are between 14 and the age of majority in your region, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

3. Your Account

  • You are responsible for the activity on your account.
  • Keep your login credentials secure and accurate.
  • You can request deletion of your account and data; see the Privacy Policy and our support form.

4. Acceptable Use

  • Be respectful. Do not harass, threaten, or impersonate others.
  • Share lawful, accurate content related to pets and the community.
  • Do not post spam, scams, or misleading content.
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or abuse the Service.

5. User Content & Moderation

  • You own the content you post. By posting, you grant Safe Paws a non‑exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute your content in order to operate the Service.
  • To protect our community—especially children—user posts are reviewed by administrators before publication. See our Child Safety Standards and Report form.
  • We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Messaging

Direct messages are end‑to‑end encrypted. Your private key remains on your device and is not transmitted or stored by Safe Paws.

7. Location, Notifications, and Data

  • Approximate and precise location may be used to deliver nearby alerts and show points of interest. Your live GPS location is not stored. You can set a home location for alerts.
  • Push notifications use device tokens (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver alerts.
  • We use Firebase for crash reports and usage analytics to improve the app.

8. Intellectual Property

The Safe Paws name, logo, and all related marks are owned by Safe Paws. You may not use them without permission.

9. Disclaimers

Safe Paws is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error‑free operation. Information posted by users may not be verified; exercise judgment when acting on community posts.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Safe Paws and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

11. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify the Service and these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
